Capillary Electrophoresis Services at UGC soon to be discontinued

2018-12-20

From January 18th, 2019, Uppsala Genome Center will no longer offer Sanger sequencing, fragment analysis, or genotyping with STR markers. The last day to submit plates for capillary electrophoresis is January, 15th.

UGC has been offering services for Sanger sequencing and fragment analysis with capillary electrophoresis for almost 20 years. Over time, the request for different types of services for genetic analyses are changing as new technologies are introduced. NGI-UGC is continuously evaluating the services offered to make sure we stay in the front line with technology development. During the last years we have experienced a decreasing number of capillary electrophoresis users. We have conducted a user survey to investigate the interest for this service in the future. Summarizing the outcome is that the expected number of samples is too low to continue offering the service. We have therefore decided to close down the electrophoresis instrument when the current service contract expires at the end of January 2019.

Sanger sequencing and fragment analysis services are offered at the core facility KIGene at the Karolinska Institute, and they welcome you as new customers.  Please follow the link below for more information.
